H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey will pay a visit to Strasbourg on 12 October, 2016 to address the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) at its autumn plenary session upon the invitation of Mr. Pedro Agramunt, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, as well as addressing the Plenary Session, will hold bilateral meetings, particularly with the EC Secretary-General Mr. Thorbjorn Jagland and PACE President Mr. Pedro Agramunt.

The Council of Europe has stood by Turkish democratic institutions in the face of the coup attempt from the start, and the highest representatives of the Council of Europe- Secretary General, Chair of the Committee of Ministers and PACE President paid support visits to Turkey.

This will constitute the second visit of Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to the Council of Europe following the terrorist coup attempt which targeted our democracy, constitutional order and fundamental rights and freedoms of our citizens.

Turkey’s high-level political contacts and technical cooperation ongoing with more intensity following July 15 with the Council of Europe, of which Turkey is a founding member, will be continued with the same determination in the forthcoming period.
