Distinguished Prof. Medina Nabukara, Director of Females Campus of Islamic University in Uganda,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Students,
I am pleased to be with you today at Islamic University in Uganda’s Females Campus in Kabojja, for the graduation ceremony of a precious project.
We are delighted to design, carry out, and accomplish another project in Uganda.
We thank the SENA Foundation, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), and Mr. Mehmet Ali Özuğur, Internal Affairs Counsellor at our Embassy, for their efforts.
Cooperation in the field of development assistance is an essential part of our multidimensional bilateral relations with Uganda.
Turkish Government Institutions - TIKA is the most effective and experienced one- and Turkish NGOs have been instrumental in this field. Today, TIKA has completed 76 projects in Uganda since the early 2000s, and it plans to carry out seven projects in the first half of 2024.
Our NGOs, like the SENA Foundation, have also accomplished various small and big projects in almost every corner of Uganda.
What is unique about this tailoring center project is that it is the product of excellent cooperation and coordination of all these actors. Moreover, this sustainable project will create new jobs and supply revenue to Ugandan women, including a group composed of wives of Ugandan police officers.
I am pleased to learn that 1.665 graduates have been eligible for certificates, and many have jobs now. Moreover, 346 sewing machines have been distributed so far within the context of the project.
Taking this opportunity, let me underline that Uganda can count on the continued support of the Turkish authorities in many fields.
We, the Turkish Embassy in Kampala, TİKA, the agency responsible for implementing and coordinating Türkiye’s development cooperation policy, and the Turkish NGOs, will continue to support Uganda, especially in terms of capacity and institution building in the fields of education, vocational training, health, agriculture, and tourism. In other words, we will continue to support Uganda’s development agenda.
We are pleased to join our efforts with the Ugandan government institutions and the people, and we aim to continue working together.
I wish the best for Uganda and its people, and I congratulate all graduates for successfully completing the courses.
Thank you.
