Her Excellency, First Lady, Honorable Janet Museveni,
Mr. Ömer Aykon, TİKA Kampala Office Program Coordinator,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Cooperation in the field of development is an essential part of our multidimensional bilateral relations with Uganda.
Turkish Government Institutions - TIKA being the most effective and experienced one - as well as Turkish NGOs, have been instrumental in this field.
I am excited and proud to share with you that TIKA has completed 86 projects in Uganda since the early 2000s, and is set to finish 5 additional projects by the end of this year.
Our NGOs have also completed various projects, both small and large, in almost every corner of Uganda. As you may have also observed during the last Aid El Adha, they were quite active and slaughtered more than 20.500 cattle, in cooperation with their Ugandan counterparts.
The TIKA project in Ntungamo was unique. With this project, we contributed to your efforts to improve the quality of life for our deaf and dumb students in the region. We express our gratitude once again TİKA and Mr. Ömer Aykon for successfully coordinating this dear project.
The Turkish Embassy in Kampala, TIKA, the Turkish agency in charge of implementing and coordinating Turkiye's development cooperation policy, and the Turkish NGOs will keep supporting Uganda, with a focus on capacity and institution building in the fields of education, vocational training, health, agriculture, and tourism. In other words, we will continue to support Uganda’s development agenda.
I would like to thank Mr. Ömer Aykon, for his dedication and his efforts for the accomplishment of various TIKA projects in Uganda in the last three years. I extend my heartfelt congratulations and wish him success and good health in his future career.
I also want to express my gratitude to Her Excellency for inviting us today, which certainly motivates us to work harder in designing and executing new development projects in Uganda.
Lastly, let me underline that we are pleased to join efforts with the Ugandan government institutions and the people, and we aim to continue working together.
Thank you.
