Prof. Medina Nabukara, Director of Islamic University of Uganda, IUIU Females Campus,
Mehmet Asım Tuçez from SENA Foundation,
My fellow comrades from the Turkish Embassy,
Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Students,
I am pleased to be with you today at Islamic University in Uganda’s Females Campus in Kabojja, for the graduation ceremony of a precious project.
We are delighted to design, carry out and successfully accomplish another project in Uganda.
We thank SENA Foundation, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and Mr. Mehmet Ali Özuğur, Internal Affairs Counsellor at our Embassy for their efforts.
Cooperation in the field of development is an essential part of our multidimensional bilateral relations with Uganda.
Turkish Government Institutions - TIKA being the most effective and experienced one - as well as Turkish NGO’s, have been instrumental in this field. As of today, TIKA has completed 76 projects in Uganda since the early 2000’s and it plans to carry out 7 projects in the first half of 2024.
Our NGO’s like SENA Foundation, have also accomplished various projects, small and big, in almost every corner of Uganda.
What is special about this tailoring center project, is that it is the product of an excellent cooperation and coordination of all these actors, and moreover, this sustainable project will create new jobs and supply revenue to the Ugandan women, including a group composed of wives of the Ugandan policemen.
I am pleased to learn that 1.665 graduates have been eligible for certificates so far and many among them have jobs now. Moreover, 346 sewing machines have been distributed so far within the context of the ongoing project.
Taking this opportunity, let me underline that Uganda can count on the continued support of the Turkish authorities in many fields.
We, the Turkish Embassy in Kampala, TİKA, the agency responsible for implementing and coordinating Türkiye’s development cooperation policy, and the Turkish NGO’s will continue to support Uganda especially in terms of capacity and institution building in the fields of education, vocational training, health, agriculture and tourism. In other words, we will continue to support Uganda’s development agenda.
We are pleased to join our efforts with the Ugandan government institutions and the people, and we aim to continue working together.
I wish the best for Uganda and its people, and congratulate all graduates for successfully completing the courses.
Thank you.
