Remarks by Ambassador Fatih Ak at the Business Forum organised by Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) in cooperation with the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI)

Fatih Ak 22.07.2026
Distinguished Business Leaders,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good morning.

It is a great honor to stand before this esteemed gathering of Turkish and Ugandan businesspeople; the driving force behind the growth and transformation of our countries’ economies.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Turkish Exporters Assembly for bringing us together to explore new opportunities for trade and commercial partnership between Türkiye and Uganda.

As two friendly nations with growing economic ties, Türkiye and Uganda share a common vision: creating prosperity through entrepreneurship, innovation, and mutually beneficial cooperation. While our political relations are flourishing, we believe that our economic partnership still holds enormous untapped potential.

Our bilateral trade volume, which stood at 75.1 million U.S. dollars in 2024, reached 160.5 million U.S. dollars in 2025. Our exports to Uganda totalled 120 million U.S. dollars, whereas our imports totalled 40,5 million U.S. dollars.

Although our trade volume more than doubled in 2025, it still falls far short of reflecting the true potential of our economies. Therefore today, I would like to invite you to look more closely at what Türkiye can offer to Ugandan businesses.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Over the past two decades, Türkiye has become one of the world’s leading manufacturing and export economies. Today, Turkish products reach more than 220 countries and territories across the globe. They are preferred not only because they meet international quality standards, but also because they offer an excellent balance between quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.

For Ugandan importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers, and project developers, Türkiye is a dependable sourcing partner capable of meeting both large-scale industrial demand and specialized market requirements.

Allow me to highlight some sectors where Turkish exporters have developed world-class expertise.

The first area is agriculture, the backbone of Uganda’s economy.

Türkiye offers modern agricultural machinery, irrigation systems, greenhouse technologies, post-harvest equipment, food-processing machinery, packaging solutions, dairy technologies, poultry equipment, and cold-chain systems. These technologies can help increase productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and support Uganda’s efforts to add value to its agricultural products.

Food processing represents another exciting opportunity.

Turkish manufacturers supply complete production lines for flour milling, edible oils, beverages, dairy products, confectionery, fruit processing, and packaging. Whether your business is a small enterprise or a large industrial processor, Türkiye offers solutions suitable for every scale of production.
Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Turkish textile industry is among the strongest in Europe.

From high-quality fabrics and ready-made garments to towels, home textiles, carpets, and industrial textiles, Turkish manufacturers combine modern design with competitive pricing. These products have earned the confidence of consumers worldwide.

Türkiye is also a major supplier of household appliances and consumer electronics.

Turkish brands manufacture refrigerators, washing machines, ovens, televisions, air-conditioning systems, kitchen appliances, and numerous electrical products that combine quality, energy efficiency, and affordability.

Our automotive industry deserves special mention.

Türkiye has become an important manufacturing hub for buses, commercial vehicles, trailers, agricultural vehicles, spare parts, batteries, tyres, and automotive components. Many globally recognized automotive brands manufacture in Türkiye, creating an advanced supplier ecosystem that serves customers around the world.

The opportunities do not end there.

Turkish companies also export pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, hospital furniture, laboratory equipment, renewable energy technologies, furniture, plastics, chemicals, packaging materials, industrial machinery, electrical equipment, mining technologies, and countless other products.

Dear Friends,

One of the greatest advantages of working with Turkish suppliers is flexibility.
Unlike many large manufacturing countries, Turkish companies are well known for adapting to customer needs. They are able to customize production, respond quickly to orders, provide technical support, and establish long-term commercial partnerships based on mutual trust.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Our Embassy is committed to facilitating these connections. We are ready to assist Ugandan companies in identifying reliable Turkish suppliers, arranging business-to-business meetings, supporting trade delegations, and providing information that will help transform business ideas into successful commercial partnerships.

Our vision is straightforward: to build stronger commercial bridges between Türkiye and Uganda that benefit both our economies.

As Uganda continues its impressive journey of industrialization and economic transformation, Türkiye stands ready to be a trusted partner—not only as an investor and contractor, but also as a reliable supplier of high-quality products, advanced technologies, and innovative industrial solutions.

I encourage each of you to explore the opportunities that Türkiye offers. I am confident that today’s conversations will lead to tomorrow’s partnerships, investments, and success stories.

Let us continue strengthening the economic ties between our two friendly nations and unlock the full potential of Türkiye–Uganda trade.

I thank you for your patience, and I look forward to fruitful discussions and partnerships.

Asante sana.

Thank you.

Atatürk
